First Week in Tuhs Press

My first week at the Tush press was very different than i expected, i thought that it would be more work and all behind a desk all day doing different and lots of articles. But it was fun and exciting even though i don't like talking to a lot of people (I'm very shy), it brings me to that point of talking to people. Now i don't think that its a bad thing because now that i talk more the man on the street activity is fun because I'm not letting my partner do all the talking we both share the process together. I  like the way we start off every class with our little squarecircle and we have different topics which kind of get you thinking and get your brain all revved up for the day and the rest of the activities planned.

Now the thing i don't like is how we just split up a lot and then everybody is doing different things i think that we should spend more timwe together because being so far from each other scary to me because you never know what might happen. I also don't like the fact that we dont switch partners even though i they told me why i dont like it because we never get to learn about other people which takes a little away from the meeting new people part. Sometimes i feel as though my opinion isn't heard and that isn't cool it hurt me on the inside because I'm shy and i don't speak up most times so when i do and get down it hurts and makes me not want to talk anymore, but overall the experience was great and i would like to stay and see what i can do here.

Freshman Reflection

This school year compared to last year has been mostly the same. Last year i had alot of trouble with fake friends, friends that say that they are my friends but they really aren't and it hurts because I'm a nice person and i give my friends to much control sometimes. I just look for that friend for life relationship in people and most times i don't find it. That happened to me this year with a girl named Morgan, i thought through all four years i would have a friend but i was wrong. She lied to me, traded on me with other people and just overall wasn't a good friend the same thing happened to me last year to. In this past school year another thing that happened was i expected the school i was coming into to be up to par and overall a good school, boy was i wrong. I hate my new school i think that some of the policies just don't make sense to me . I don't like certain things that they make seem important that aren't, i don't like it compare to my school last year this school couldn't compete. I think that last year my load was a little lighter but i still kind of struggled but i had support i think this year i had lest support. I think that now that I'm at the end of my ninth grade year here I'm realizing that this is really it and its really happening and i need to get it together because i have three more years of this and it is preparing me for college and that in college i might not get any support so i need to learn how to handle myself and my own work and stop deepened ing on someone to look the other way or help me out a little more than required. i  think that this year was okay for the most part the first time being away from my mom because my mom worked at my old school so it was hard not to be able to go to my moms office when i get in trouble and her working her magic and getting me out of trouble. But i think i did good with her and i think ill do better next year because them IM'A A SOPHOMORE BABY.. and if that year goes as fast as this ill bve soooo happy .

Coming to the stage : Elle Varner

Elle Varner, She is becoming widly popular with her funky 70's and 80's style. Her bright colors only add to the talented voice she is letting the world here. Her album "Conversational Lush" is bringing about some new talent. When you are just becoming into the business getting some people that are already well known just makes it better so who else then her old college buddy and a cutie might i add rapper J. Cole on her song "Only Wanna Give it to You". The song brought back the old school hip hop with its loud but catchy beats that makes you wanna do an old school dance but to the rap lyrics of today, But dont think that the singer needs someone known to be featured in her songs for them to become a smash because when the singer was all alone in her song Refill that also become a hit among the teenage population more so among girls. Most girls like that her song talks about guys but in a different way in her song "Only wanna give it to you" She talks about how she picked the guy over a really cute pair of sneakers that she really wanted. That has to be some serious love for a girl to give up her shoes. Then in her song "Refill" , she compares the guy to a bar like when you've drunk to much but you cant stop cause you think you need just one more sip. Thats what the guy was being compared to that sip she wanted her glass to be refilled but with music like this i would want to hear more from the artist in the future.

Getting Angry Can Be a good Thing

Today in class we read an article on "This i believe", This article talked about what Cecilia Munoz believed and she believed that a little outrage can take you a long way. The article goes on to talk about how she was a a teenager who moved from Bolivia and now lived in Detroit. After a dinner convo her friend told her how he thought that the U.S might one day go into war with Latin America and that her family could be thrown in an interment camp like the Japanese. That kind of upset Cecilia and she used her outrage in a positive way. It fueled her to find a job in the immigrants right movement. Even though she was helping people the people that she couldn't help it made her feel like her rage was carving at her soul. I think this is a good thing. I'm glad that she used her anger in a  good way to help people in a good way that she be proud of because she doesn't want people to treat immigrants wrong and like their not people. I think that her mother and father are very proud of what their daughter is doing as a person, and what she is doing for people who need help. I think that she is doing big things and i think that this "This i believe" is a good one. I'm glad we read this is really give me an insight on how these are supposed to be and that anger isnt always bad.

Broadcasting a World of Whiteness

Today in class my teacher presented us with a article about this show called "Girls" but the cast is full of all white women, The article goes on to talk about whether or not the show or television for that matter is diverse enough. I think that the show should have a little bit more diversity with a name like "Girls". When you pick something that's very wide ranged like that you have to back it up and only picked white women to put on a show is NOT backing it up. I think that the main characters, the girls should come from different places i mean throw at least one black girl in there and not just one that have a small conversation with let her have a big part i mean the name of the show is "Girls". The problem for me is not that the cast is all white but its not diverse enough and making people watch television with an all white cast making people of different races seem wrong and that we aren't females or for that matter we aren't what people want to see. Today society everything is about image and i think they really took time to think about what people as a whole want to see on their television. I think as a person i feel a little upset that my race isn't considered good enough to be broad casted. You see a lot of black, latino
and Chinese girls and women on the Disney channel but on a regular television station whats going on is it not permitted, and for me as i feel hurt that i feel like the second race.

New Fashion Wrinkle: Stylishly Hiding the Gun

Today in class we read an article about Stylishly hiding guns. The article talked about how most people that carry a gun, when their carrying the gun they look sloppy and Undone. So Woolrich, a 182 year-old company came up with the idea of stylish clothes to hide your gun with. Clothes that you like and neat with a little bit of today's fashion. I think that this type of clothing is just an excuse for people to carry guns that are concealed this will cause more people to think its okay to carry guns. I think that if more people carry guns it will not reduce crime but make more crime because like now if one person kills some one that another person is going after the person who killed someone, I think it will make more problems not reduce them. With everyone carrying guns how do you know whether or not children will be protected i mean guns are quick and bullets have no names if your shot your shot there is no reversing time. I think that these gun clothes is just another way for people to get around the law. How do you know whether or not a dangerous criminal is on the loose with a gun but you can't tell because to the naked eye he is just walking or doing something normal because you can't tell whether he has a gun or not. No matter what people say guns are DANGEROUS and when people keep helping make them more "Stylish" what are you doing? Your making guns an accessory and there not like hello people they are weapons that are used to kill. This is not right and No you shouldn't be able to walk in Seven Eleven, Walmart, or the corner store to by a freaking gun No not at all THEY ARE WEAPONS!

Afghan Girls, Scarred by Acid

Today in class we read a article about these Afghanistan girls that had were on their way to school when a guy on a motorcycle pulled up and asked the girls a question "were they going to school" than he sprayed acid in the face of the two girls. They thought it was the work of the Taliban and that they were trying to scare the girls into not going to school. But that method didn't work and the girls continued to go to school, so the Taliban had to make their presence noticeable so they decided to get on their motorcycles and circle the school so with spray bottles, water guns and a jar. They shot and sprayed 11 girls, 4 teacher with the acid, 6 went to the hospital. This time the girls stop returning to the school and stayed in their homes fearing the worst. Then the Head Master at the school decided enough was enough saying that "If you don't send your daughters to school, then the enemy wins." Sooner than he could blink the girls were back in school i think that this was a good move even though the acid could continue this shows you that those girls care about there life and what happens with it. I really encourage the parents and the students to continue on with school
